Is this a two way radio or what?
While sitting in Bojangles I saw that all the employees wore headsets so they could hear the drive through and talk to each other and I was wondering: what exactly are those? Are they a short range two way radio? Or something else? Thanks!

it is called duplex. all the headset mics transmit on one frequency. there is a basestation unit that receives the mics and then re-transmits on an offset frequency. all the headsets listen on the offset frequency. that way all parties can talk and listen at the same time. it is low power, so don’t expect to pick them up on your scanner at home.
….. but if you take a portable scanner along with you and find
the frequencies used there, you should be able to listen to
their communications almost as if you worked there yourself.
Short range open radio. in two way you have to stop sending to receive, in this case everyone can talk without pushing buttons, think of it a a telephone over short-range radio.
They are licensed 2-way radios, likey UHF, because short distance is just need. They probably use a frequency or few, dedicated to their license, unlike a shared band such as CB or FRS.
